Free Antivirus Software For Mac Operating System

Free antivirus software for macs? According to my findings…There are no MacOs X viruses. There hasn’t been one released in over 3 years. You can’t have a virus. What you did on Firefox was disable your popup ad blocker. Just turn it back on again. There are 7 Mac trojans, they do not replicate, you can’t get them by clicking on an ad or visiting a website. You have to download them and install them with your admin password. They come in fake software or illegal downloads of Photoshop CS4 or iWorks 09 via torrents.
The Windows software that may have downloaded on your Mac will do nothing to your Mac, just find it and trash it.
There are two legitimate Mac anti-virus applications. One called ivirus just checks for Mac viruses, since there aren’t any, it works almost instantaneously. The other ClamXav, checks for Windows viruses as well as the non-existent Mac viruses. It slows your Mac down but does find the Windows viruses.
My recommendation, is to not install any anti-virus application. It does more damage and causes more problems than it is worth. I did computer tech for 10 years, never had a Mac running MacOs X with a virus, adware, spyware etc. I have 4 Macs, none run any anti-virus software. Just don’t download illegal or fake software.
Despite all the “warnings” from the Windows users you are safer on a Mac, there are no MacOs X viruses. Check the info on http://www.macsurfer.com
